Drill the Everglades? Thompson Says It's Not Off the Table

Really? The Everglades?
Republican presidential candidate Fred Thompson met with Florida Gov. Charlie Crist in Tallahassee this morning and said he wouldn’t rule out drilling for oil in the Everglades.
“Gosh, no one has told me there is any major reserves in the Everglades,” the former Tennessee senator said when asked about the issue. “Maybe that’s one of the things I have to learn while I’m down here.”
He continued, saying "I'm not going to start out by taking this, that or the other off the table in terms of our overall energy situation."
Jeb Bush caused controversy in the state when he wanted to lower the buffer-zone for drilling to 125 miles from the state, so we'll see how drilling in the Everglades goes over in the Sunshine state.

Why not drill the everglades?
Bush is setting it up with the Bureau of Land Mismanagement for his buddies to drill in just about every other wilderness area.
Why should Florida be left out?
Save our wilderness heritage!
IMPEACH BUSH/CHENEY!

In Florida anything goes. Hey, while Lake Okeechobee is so low you can see the lake bed...why not go ahead and drill. Florida is famous for lousy decisions on the environment.
First they drain the lake and now they are allowing pollution to back flow into it.
Pictures of a very low Lake Okeechobee
Might as well drill for oil while the back up water source for South Florida is dry.

Yeah! Absolutely.
Why would any intelligent man need time to look at options of an issue he wasn't even aware of previously to lessen our dependence on foreign oil when we know any Liberal Prog would knee-jerk a decision immediately to save a few crocodiles and snakes...My god, what will those Conservatives not consider?? Have they no values at all!?
LOL! ROFLLMHO!!

Thompson is an idiot. It's illegal to drill there. And millions of people who live in Broward and Miami Dade County wouldn't exactly be thrilled. What a dope. I've never seen a campaign fizzle quicker in my life.

Has the man lost his damn mind????

I guess it really doesn't matter what Thompson says because we are handing the election to him anyway by turning off the Florida primary voters.

I lived in everglades city for 4 years, and that was all i heard about. there were rumors to shut down the new school they had just built and convert it into government offices, that didn't fly. As long as there is any one living in south florida there will not be any oil drilling it would destroy the tourism industry, which brings millions of dollars in taxes to fund Bushs' other oil war... Oh god, he might try to invade florida.
